Yoga Teacher Training
Sage is YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider®) certified and provides Yoga Teacher Trainings that qualify as Continuing Education hours for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®s). RYT®s who take courses with Sage can trust that their training counts toward meeting their Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Requirements.

We specialize in a practical approach to a healthy body and mind through Ayurveda, yoga, nutrition, exercise, posture, breathing,and mindfulness.
Our founding yogi, Roxana, is a Certified Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500), a Bellies Inc. Certified Core Confidence Specialist, a Fitness Instructor, and a martial artist. She also completed a B.Sc. degree in Anatomy and Physiology at the University of Toronto and studied Nutrition, Herbal Medicine and Ayurveda at the Dogwood School of Botanical Medicine.
Her passion fosters a holistic approach to strengthening the body, mind, and spirit.
Roxana’s Biography
Roxana Mares started studying martial arts and meditation in childhood. It resonated with her at such an early age that she continued her studies during her University and College life, studying Zen Buddhism and traditional martial arts. While studying Anatomy and Physiology at the University of Toronto, she also became a fitness instructor.
In 2010 Roxana dove right into the Yoga and Holistic Wellness world.
She continued with a 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training, that contained Yoga Therapy, Meditation, Yin Yoga, and Restorative Yoga training, among other courses.
She taught teacher trainings in Restorative Yoga, Kids yoga and also worked with people suffering from physical and emotional limitations. She studied Ayurveda, Nutrition, and Phytomedica at the Dogwood School of Botanical Medicine since 2012.
Roxana has a wealth of knowledge and experience about healing the body, mind, and nervous system and is very passionate about helping others live healthier, happier lives.
Roxana is passionate about making yoga, meditation and mindful movement accessible to everyone, regardless of their age, abilities or limitations. She blends nutritional counseling, yoga, meditation and fitness into her holistic wellness consulting.
Healing Yoga and Meditation
The style of yoga Roxana teaches is so much more than yoga! She helps people create a connection to their body through breath exploration and scanning the body for tension.
She encourages people to bring this awareness into their entire lives and use the skills learned in her classes to help people live more relaxed and healthier, as well as more able to handle situations that inevitably come up in our daily lives: stresses, challenges, etc.
This helps with the effects of stress on the body, not just physically but also emotionally:

- Decrease stress response: increased cortisol, high blood pressure, tension around organs, improper functioning of the digestive system, decrease of the hippocampus
- Emotionally not being so reactive to situations; remaining more clear-minded in order to properly handle situations and make correct decisions
Her classes promote a meditation in motion that can also be used in daily life.
